We have a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Legal to join a leading bank in Guernsey.

Key Responsibilities: 

The role holder will act as a trusted legal adviser to members of the Company’s management and in doing so their responsibilities include:

• advising on the interpretation and application of Guernsey law and regulation, including advising the local management team on the legal aspects of business projects and their implementation, monitoring for specific legal and regulatory developments and analysing their impact, reporting in a timely manner on material changes in the Guernsey legal risks and supporting the Company in its choice of mitigation measures, and advising on and preparing legal contractual documentation;
• supporting the Senior Management of the Guernsey Branch on legal risk management, including the impacts of legal/regulatory change and legal risk matters as they arise ensuring good corporate governance;
• advising on and managing the conduct of contentious legal matters, reporting in a timely manner on the progress of and potential liabilities arising out of such matters and appointing and overseeing external counsel and other advisers on such matters;
• Providing routine MIS Company’s management team in addition to functional reporting.
